CHAMPIONS OF THE JUNK YARD
- For many years, Tippett and his friends honed their engineering skills and tested their creative powers in the crucible of competition by organizing an annual “Junkyard Wars” style competition. Each year a committee was formed to establish a challenge, followed by a 3 week period in which teams would scour Greater Vancouver for junk and formulate a solution to the challenge presented. This intense planning would culminate in a 48hr build, followed by an intense day of competition in which the bleary eyed builders would pit their creations against one another to see who would be champions of Junkyard. Failure was inevitable and often just as glorious (or at least entertaining) as victory!
